March 11, 1948- Our Arab neighbors set off a bomb at the headquarters of the Jewish Agency in Yerushalayim was bombed, killing 12 people. The bombing was perpetrated by an Arab employee of the American Consulate, who used an official American vehicle loaded with explosives. The Jewish Agency building, a three-winged structure with a large open courtyard, was the central authority for the Jewish community prior to the establishment of the State of Israel.

Following the bombing, the building was rebuilt, and still to this day houses the Jewish Agency (concerned with immigration), Keren Hayesod (Diaspora fundraising), and the Jewish National Fund (land development).
