1905- Pogrom in Odessa took 300 Jewish lives.



October 15, 1939- The great 124-year-old Yeshiva in Mir, Poland was forced to close by the Nazis.Many Mirrer Talmidim fled, and with great nissim survived the war years in
Shanghai, China.. Today, B"H, the Yeshiva is alive and well in Yerushalayim.



October 23, 1941- The Nazis murdered 10,000 Jews of Vilna.



October 23, 1941- Romanian soldiers massacre 26,000 Jews of Odessa. Five thousand Jews of Odessa were arrested in retaliation for an underground operation. They were all murdered. Some were hanged in public parks. Later that same day nineteen thousand Jews were arrested, taken to the harbor, doused with gasoline and burned alive.
