The Final Search for Chametz

13 April 2014

The day of Passover begins tonight at sundown and the seder meal occurs tomorrow evening.  All of the preparations for the moed of Pesach should be complete except for one: the final search for chametz/leaven.

THE SEARCH FOR CHOMETZFor the past month or more, families have been preparing their houses by searching for leavened food items throughout their homes.  They have been preparing their souls by searching for unconfessed sin throughout their lives.  This final search for chametz and sin occurs on the evening before the Passover seder.

We received a beautiful reminder card from Girls' Town Or Chadash regarding the search for chametz that we wanted to share along with our favorite Passover passage of Scripture:

Clean out the old leaven so that you may be a new lump, just as you are in fact unleavened. For Christ our Passover also has been sacrificed.  (1 Corinthians 5:7)

From our family to yours, we wish you gut yontiff and chag sameach Pesach!
