Moshe ben Maimon was a scholar of Scripture in the 12th century.1 Commonly known as Maimonides or "the Rambam" (pronounced rahm bahm) he was the first to enumerate the commandments given in the Torah. Below is a similar enumeration we have created based upon his work (including possible categories we have added along with the percentage each category represents compared to the whole 613).

The scope of this document is not to explain each commandment or relate if or how they are relevant today in the absence of a Temple. The Psalm 119 Foundation has created an entirely separate website that examines each commandment individually called The 613 Commandments.com.  We have also created an interactive view of the commandments at The613.info.  If you are interested in the mitzvot [commandments] check out these sites!

First Fruits of Zion (http://ffoz.org/) had an excellent, extensive (and large!) treatise on these details called Torah Club Volume 5- Rejoicing in the Torah. If you can find a first-edition version of this resource, we definitely recommend it.  Later versions are not as commandment-focused as the original.

May G-d be praised in the study of His ways!
